Q. When did you join PWS?

Alex and I joined PWS in January 2021

Q. Why did you want to start investing in property?

Our main goal was to become financially free and not be tied down by a corporate job. Another factor for us was the sudden passing of Alex`s mum, just before lockdown in March 2020.

Q. What do you do for a living? And if that has changed since investing in property, how has it changed?

Alex is a gas engineer and still in full time work. However, this has been great for expanding our portfolio, as we have found 2 DTV deals this way! My role is a metering assistant and I have gone down to part time hours with a plan to leave my job in January 2025.

Q. Biggest learning to date?

Quite simply...don't buy shiny pennies!!

Q. What do you find challenging about your personal property investment journey?

There are so many ups and downs in property, but the most challenging thing about our journey has been learning to accept and cope when things are not in our control.

Q. How has the education and network from PWS helped you?

PWS has been a great support for us over the years and will continue to do so. All the mentors are excellent and always willing to help and offer their support.

Q. Tell us about a deal you've been really proud of...

This has to be our first deal. We actually enquired about this property whilst walking the high street in Treorchy on our 1:1 mentorship with Sarah Blaney. We viewed it the following week and that's when things started rolling!

The property was a neglected 3 bed terraced in the Rhondda Valleys, in need of a full renovation. After running the figures it fitted perfectly with our BRR strategy.

We secured the deal and used partly our money for the deposit and a bridge loan for the purchase and refurbishment. We loved this property as the figures were calculating close to MIMO (money-in-money-out)

The biggest thing we learnt on this project was how to keep track of materials costs and working with builders.

HMO's and scaling our sourcing/deal packaging business.
